*** Folkzanger/gitarist Tom Rush wordt in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, geboren. Hoort thuis in het rijtje Fred Neil, Hoyt Axton, Michael Murphey, maar ook John Prine en Steve Goodman. Als hij studeert aan de Harvard University tekent hij een contract bij Elektra. Maakt vanaf '64 talloze elpees met daarop materiaal van o.a. Joni Mitchell ('CircleGame'), James Taylor ('Something In The Way She Moves') en Jackson Browne ('These Days').Jesse Winchester en Browne hebben hun bekendheid deels aan Rush te danken, die als eerstegebruik maakt van hun composities. In '70 tekent Rush een contract bij Cbs, voor welk label hij Tom Rush, Wrong End Of The Rainbow, Merrimack County en het ietwat teleurstellende Ladies Love Outlaws opneemt. Op de laatstgenoemde plaat assisteren o.m. Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter, Elliot Randall en het echtpaar James Taylor Carly Simon. ***
