What can we expect from the documentary?
Channel 4 will closely look into the circumstances that led their subjects to murder and feature chilling CCTV footage from investigations, chronicle the trials, and reveal what happened to these women once they were behind bars. Tonight’s episode will feature Amber Hilberling and Ana Trujillo.
Who is Amber Hilberling?
Amber Hilbering was convicted of pushing her husband Josh, 23, out of a 25th floor window in October 2011, she then took her life in October 2016 aged 25.
Mum-of-one Amber was 19 when she killed Josh and claimed that she was acting in self-defence when she pushed the US Air Force veteran out of their apartment window following a violent row, in scenes filmed before she hanged herself in her prison cell.
She was seven-months pregnant with their son Levi when she committed murder, and in what turned out to be her last televised words, told the documentary that she thought they would eventually have a “happily ever after.”
She explained: “We were both young and we were both selfish in our emotions because we were young, and I think if it had happened later on in life when we were both a little bit more grown up, I think it would have been happily ever after.”
She added: “I’ve never tried to make it sound like he is the big bad wolf and I’m little Red Riding Hood that is running for her life, it wasn’t like that.”
