*** De Saragossa Band is een Duitse popband die voornamelijk in de jaren 70 en 80 succesvol was in eigen land. Als enige Duitse band bereikte ze ongekende super successen met hun zeer succesvolle South Pacific tour.
Vandaag is de Saragossa Band nog steeds succesvol met vele optredens, onder meer in Roemenië, Hongarije en Oostenrijk waar ze nog steeds spelen op de allergrootste festivals, zo nu en dan kunnen wij ze ook op televisie te zien. Leden van het eerste moment waren: Thommy Brandner, Harry Carrere, Dusty Klaerl, Georg Klanthe, Gloria Rennals, Alfred Rudec, Helmut Schiffner, Pit Troy Henry en whisky.

Leden van de huidige bezetting: Harry Karrer "Carrere" (zang), Gudrun Overhoff-Poppinga (zang), Evert van der Waal (drums), Andy Bielan (keyboards), Thomas Hartel (bas), Markus Escher (gitaar). De groep is bekend van 1977, toen zij de nummers ‘Big Bamboo, Zabadak en  Rasta Man’ brachten. Deze hits werden daarna gevolgd door twee nummers met relatief weinig tekst, die op zijn minst een TOP 10 plaats behaalde in Duitsland. De volgende hits ‘Red Ginger, Ginger Rood en Aiko Aiko’ bereikte net geen TOP 10 plaats meer, maar de volgende hit ‘Agadou’ miste zijn effect niet en is met grote afstand de meest bekende en meest gedraaide hit van de groep. Tot op heden is deze hit ‘Agadou’ nog steeds de populairste song in vele ‘beach-bars’ en nachtclubs, wat de afgelopen jaren echter resulteerde in een golf van cover-versies van deze titel (met inbegrip van Hot Banditoz , DD Company , La Boom , Black Lace of Proty Kids Disco ). Deze situatie is nu echter terug gekalmeerd, want al deze cover-versies flopte volledig, en in plaats daarvan spelen alle DJ’s nog steeds het origineel. ***
