Post Description
From the guitarist of Dutch '70s prog rock group Focus, this is a very fine instrumental rock/jazz/fusion album!
The first tune is an upbeat, though not too rowdy electric guitar piece with a vague blues influence,
fairly simple though pleasing rhythm with Jan doing an impressive electric lead. Next, is a mellow, beautiful,
haunting acoustic prog rock piece featuring piano and Jan doing a lead that never really takes center stage.
This is one of the finest tunes on the album. The third tune starts with some sound effects,
going into drums that set an offhand beat that draws you into what eventually becomes a tasty fusion tune with fine electric guitarwork from Jan!
The next tune shows how well fusion and instrumental prog rock can fit so well together, if when not getting too rowdy.
They save the rowdy tune for song number 5 on the album....pure fusion, with Jan's most impressive most rocking solo on the album...another album highlight!
And the sixth and final tune is a melodic cross of jazz and rock....a bit mellow, but a fine way to end the album.
Four additional tunes were added at the end of this disc. They were all live selections, nice tunes, fine additions to the disc,
but too many drum solos and overall could not really add to the worth of what was basically a really nice, though mostly not too rowdy fusion disc.
Of all of Jan's solo albums that I've heard, this is a favorite. Over all, once you hear this disc, you WILL WANT to hear it again....and maybe again after that!
