Ludwig van Beethoven - Complete Works [brilliant Classics 100 CD Box] [2007] [anthology]

Rarely is it possible to acquire a complete classical music edition of such obvious quality and value that it becomes a must have for collectors and enthusiast alike.

This is the extended version of the newly compiled complete Beethoven Edition by Brilliant Classics. It contains an additional 15 CD’s with historical recordings by outstanding musicians of the past. These are performances of astature which makes the mouth water.

For instance there is the ninth symphony by the Chor & Orchester des Bayreuther Festspiele under, Wilhelm Fürtwängler with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf from 1951. Klemperer conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in the third symphony, while Von Karajan does the fifth with the same orchestra.

Arthur Schnabel, Edwin Fischer, David Oistrakh and Walter Gieseking are among the legends to be heard in Beethoven’s music on these CD’s. Also included is the 1953 recording of Fidelio by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under Wilhelm Fürtwängler, with soprano Martha Mödl as Leonore and tenor Wolfgang Windgassen as Florestan.
